Leitkultur Pop Up Party - Solidarity, Love, Music | Schimanski | November 12th, 2016
Written on November 10th: Today, in the United States, emotions are high. Hate, anger, phobias of every kind, and many other negative aspects of our society are currently being highlighted on a global scale -- and are prevalent within some of our country's most powerful figures. In response to this, and as a statement against all that this stands for, we have decided to create a gathering for all those who are threatened, for all those that are disgusted, and for all those who need a reminder of the beautiful world we live in. This is a space for those who crave love, community, and joy, in a time where it appears such little is left.
On Saturday, November 12th, with the incredible, pro-bono help of international artists from London and New York, we will show just how much love trumps hate. Join us to experience and bask in the glory that IS all of our differences, and prove to one another just how strong we are as one. In solidarity, we invite you in to our House to celebrate one another, dance, and spread happiness to the masses. Creativity, artistic freedom, and LOVE are things that no one, not even the president, can ever take away.
Leitkultur Nacht - Ein Jahr | the303 at Louie & Chan | October 15th, 2016
Ein Jahr // One Year
Starting out as an intimate Tuesday night party at Elvis Guesthouse in the East Village almost one year ago, our Leitkultur Nacht initiative has moved to Babel, Studio 151, a 2,000 sq ft loft space for a pop up party, and now down to the303 in the Lower East Side. As a constantly progressive, forward-thinking house music celebration, we've hosted artists from Paris to Honolulu, always in praise of soulful beats and grooves. But, to celebrate our very first birthday, we have invited a New York City disco legend to grace us all. Prepare for hedonism, dress to dance, and get lost in the Leitkultur.
Zero tolerance for sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other kind of oppressive behavior. If you feel that this kind of behavior is being directed at you at any time during the event please approach an organizer or staff member with your concerns and they will be dealt with immediately.
Artists performing: Justin Strauss (a/jus/ted, whatever/whatever), Mike Guimond [Leitkultur], Seth Magoon [Leitkultur], Quantum (Washington, D.C.), Braden Bjella (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), Josh Adler (New York, NY)

Leitkultur Nacht - Wie Lange Ist Jetzt? | the303 at Louie & Chan | May 14th, 2016
Wie lange ist jetzt? How long is now? For decades, ravers have been exploring the tempormentality of this statement and its associated thoughts. We dance during the night, but when we spend our days in preparation of this music and what it offers, does the night not extend into the day? Do these ephemeral moments we share with hundreds of other people leave us as soon as we exit the sweaty dance floor? Or do they stay with us forever, locked inside of our minds as memories? The answers to these questions can only be discovered when with one another and in the heat of the moment; to dance is to discover.
Artists performing: Antosh (Paris, France), Mike Guimond [Leitkultur], Quantum (Washington, DC), Arthur Clement [Musique Directe], Seth Magoon (New York, NY), Braden Bjella (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), Josh Adler (New York, NY), Valentin (Deva, Romania)
$5 advanced tickets can be purchased via Resident Advisor.
Leitkultur Nacht - Vinyl Showcase | Studio 151 | April 9th, 2016
This Leitkultur Nacht is showcasing the love of underground house music records by all billed artists, and headliner Patrick Harvey will be performing a 100% vinyl set. Tickets are $5 at the door, and re-entry is permitted all night long.
NOTE: Originally this party was scheduled for the Cabaret Bar at Verboten. Although the club is open and functioning, the nonpayment of taxes to the state of New York and the nonpayment of artists who previously performed at the club have been grounds for us to move the party across the river. For further questions on this matter, please reach out to DasLeitkulturProjekt@gmail.com.

Leitkultur Nacht | Jolie's | February 25th, 2016
Leitkultur is extremely proud to present our next event in collaboration with Tag & Seek.
On Thursday, February 25th, a gathering will be held at the newly opened Jolie's NYC in the East Village. Through the artists of our collective and our wonderful downtown music community, we will come together to raise money for humanitarian aid for the Syrian refugee crisis. Tickets are $5 at the door, and 100% of the proceeds are being donated to the International Rescue Committee. All of this is brought to you by the #CrumblingBorders street art initiative. Come, have a drink, and build awareness for a good cause!
This Leitkultur Nacht aims musically at tying together timeless sounds of dance floors nearby, as well as those far away. River Anton will bring bass-laden frequencies rarely heard on our dance floors to the party, while resident Mike Guimond delivers house and disco-house to the regulars in attendance. Quantum, also known as Andrew Kwon, will explore positive wavelengths of deep and tech house alike early in the night.
Mike Guimond [Leitkultur] - Mike Guimond is the resident DJ of the Leitkultur collective. Learning how to spin in Florence, Italy, he taught himself the basics of mixing in the small but vibrant renaissance city as an eighteen year old abroad. The following year Mike moved home to New York City, continuing to perform at staple East and West Village nightclubs like Babel and Le Souk where he built a following of deep and tech house lovers alike going out in the vibrant Greenwich Village. In August of 2015, Mike moved to Berlin, Germany to chase his endeavors with nightlife culture and underground electronic music. There, his gig performances changed from the New York City club scene to the dark and eclectic Berlin one-off events. Spinning at techno bunker parties, squat parties, illegal warehouse parties and outdoor open airs, Mike quickly experienced "der schönheit der Berlin Nachtleben" (the beauty of Berlin nightlife) for over a year. Now back in New York City, Mike is determined to take his Leitkultur collective and present high quality culture, art and music to those in high demand.
River Anton (Sydney, Australia) - River Anton is a Sydney-bred, New York City based DJ. The 22-year-old artist got his start in electronic music through exploring the instrumental beats of hip hop and rap music while growing up as a child in Australia. As soon as he was of age, Anton became a regular to the Sydney underground. Going to countless electronic music events in his hometown, he garnered a family of friends all driven by the beat. This love for dirty electronic music cultivated itself into something more when Anton began to spin, and before his departure to New York City, he found himself regularly playing at Soho, The Clinic, and Candy’s Apartment in the capital of the outback. River’s move to New York City to pursue his musical endeavors has been nothing but successful. In the big apple Anton’s played parties everywhere, from the larger-than-life EDM venue Stage 48, to picturesque sunset evenings at Cantina Rooftop in midtown, to the jacking dancefloors of Slake.

Leitkultur Nacht | Elvis Guesthouse | November 24th, 2015
Leitkultur is proud to present our first event at the wonderfully weird Elvis Guesthouse in NYC. This special space has been home to numerous artists and bands over the years, and we’re thrilled to be able to launch our collective with their venue in the heart of the East Village. Infusing artists of the commercial as well as underground dance music scene, this Leitkultur Nacht aims at presenting all shades and colors of the sonorous sound we love so dearly: House.
Rama NY (New York, New York) - Born and raised in New York City, Rama NY has had an unbelievable education in the history of underground house music. As someone with family members involved in the production of the infamous Sound Factory parties, Rama experienced first hand what proper clubbing culture was all about in NYC’s 1990s heyday, and what it should be about in 2015. Being highly regarded in his hometown for his expansive and diverse record collection, the selector has been making massive waves in the big apple and beyond. His DJ sets have taken him from Bushwick afterhours warehouse parties in Brooklyn, to Outsiders in Montreal, and all the way across the pond in London. With such prolific success in the past year, Rama decided it was time to take his internal love for minimal house music and extrapolate it to the public through Stillwell, his newly launched record label. When asked about his intention for the imprint, Rama commented, “It is made for the intriguing feelings and exclusivity that vinyl offers; it is for the old and new demographic alike. Stillwell intends for its music to mirror these captivating emotions that we feel as a community, and stand for unity.”
Kids Want Techno (Washington, DC) - Kids Want Techno are two producers and DJs hailing from Washington, DC. As a duo, Jordan McLeod and Adam Solhjou have spent countless hours in the studio churning out dozens of original productions and remixes; many of which have received unbelievable praise amongst critics and bloggers of the electronic music landscape. Most notably, their remix of Odesza's 'Say My Name' hit 1,500,000 plays on SoundCloud in mid 2015 and has won support by tropical mainstays like Boehm, Sonny Alven, and Spada. With shows at Sudflood Festival, Recess Concert and BeachGlow Festival in Atlantic City, this year has been an incredible ride for the all-american house DJs.
